"Treatments, Therapies, Coping Techniques and Current Research for People Living with Dystonia and Parkinson
's Disease.
The Patient Symposium is a FREE event in New York City open to the general public that is geared to patients suffering from Dystonia and Parkinson disease as well as their caregivers. It begins at 8:45am and ends at 3:00pm. We split up the attendees into two groups. One group with Dystonia patients and caregivers and the other group with Parkinson
's patients and caregivers. One portion of the program includes a panel discussion with top neurologists speaking about the latest research, treatments and new discoveries as well as a questions and answer portion with the audience. The second portion offers interactive classes of Chair Yoga, Emotional Coping Strategies, Alexander Technique and Dance Chair Therapy. While one group is in the panel discussion portion the other group will be in the interactive classes and vice versa. This combination of panel discussions and interactive classes offers you an all encompassing experience to better educate and empower yourself.
